Through discussion topics posted to this website, we will be able to break down the four walls of our classrooms and collaborate with other teachers and students around the world. My hope is that this platform will provide additional excitement around reading and expand students' worldview.
A few basic guidelines to ensure this runs smoothly:
To participate in a conversation, submit a comment on the appropriate page. Your comment will post immediately. Your students can also provide video responses via Flipgrid. A link will be provided in the discussion topic post. Please note that your students' reactions to posted videos will show immediately, but new videos will post once approved by me. I'm just monitoring for obvious reasons...making sure responses contribute to the topic and that this remains a safe space for our kids. If you would like to submit a video or project to share with the rest of the world, you can email it to [email protected], and I will post it to the homepage or appropriate subsection so others can view and comment on it. When emailing me, please give your class a name and share your city, state (if applicable), and country (Ex: Mrs. Caso's 5th Grade - Coronado, CA, USA). Questions or suggestions? Comment below. As of October 2nd, we have classes participating in:
Are you planning to participate? Let's build up some excitement. Let us know where you're located in the comments below! Photo Credit: https://goo.gl/images/8ABhdh

I just posted the first discussion topic! Your class can watch a short three minute video of Linda Sue Park sharing her inspiration for writing this novel and respond to a prompt afterwards that asks your class to consider, or research, where their water comes from. They're asked to share where it comes from and how their lives would be different if it wasn't readily available. If it isn't readily available, share about it! I suggest you discuss these topics as a class and craft a group response together. Please share your grade level and location at the end of the response. We want to open our students' eyes to the world, so knowing each others' locations is important! Can't wait to hear the different responses. You can access this prompt by copying and pasting the below url or through the home page.
