We enjoyed watching this interview, and we learned A LOT about Salva, Linda Sue Park, and Sudan. It was hard for us to narrow down our favorite facts!

Salva’s story represents bravery when facing challenges in life. He persevered for many years, and he met his goals even when times were rough. He teaches that you can always strive to achieve your goals, and that you can always make a difference.

Hi, I do not want to share my name, so I won't. Here is my opinion of A Long Walk to Water. I really liked A Long Walk to Water, and I admired the interview so here are my thoughts. It was very sad that Salva's uncle died with him watching. I am very upset that Nya was not a real person. Salva's story is very sad. But he persevered through it. I liked how the author described the machine that they used to think about iron giraffe because it was so tall. It was also sad that in the interview, Linda Sue Park was bullied as a kid.

Hello! I am Mohamed. I live in Iowa City Anyway, today, I will be telling what I thought about the Linda Sue Park And Salva Dut interview. What I think is that I REALLY love the way Salva never gave up, always had perseverance, and helped his people. He is a true African American, showing truth, hope, and love towards others. He is a man who will ALWAYS be appreciated. His story is very sad. He had a lot of hardship. Salva had hope and faith in himself and others. He knew that there would be pain and hardship. He helped others and treated people the the way he wanted to be treated This taught me that anyone can do what they want if they work hard enough. This is my Salva story. Bye!!

I am Fadl. I will be sharing about Salva. Salva has a lot of perseverance and motivation.Salva has a very sad story. Salva grew up in a refugee camp for 10 years it was a very sad story, this is how it this it went. So one day in Salva’s village a war just happened out of a nowhere. Then he and a lot of boys from the village were just running and running for their lives. Then a little after Salva and his uncle joined refugee camp. Then they just lived in it. Then his uncle died it was sad. Afterward he came to America. He met a family in New York then he heard about his dad being sick so he went to his dad. His dad didn't recognize him. He told him he’s Salva. Then he he figured out that his dad was sick because of the water so he made water for Sudan. This is my Salva story.

My takeaway is why Linda decided to write the book. I think she wrote this book after she found Salva’s website about South Sudan. She just probably wanted to get the word out. After Linda Sue heard her husband talking about meeting Salva that’s when wrote this book. She wanted young readers to read this story and donate money to the water for South Sudan.

Hi, I’m a kid from Weber and what I think of a Long Walk To Water is that it seems like a adventurous book that is daring and interesting. Salva’s story is very sad and adventurous with dares and danger but very heartfelt. Nya’s is a story about a girl who finally gets water having used to walk 8 hours to get to water. Both these stories are very interesting and I hope you read the book!

I was surprised that Linda was bullied because she was Korean.

I was sad that Linda Sue Park was bullied at school just because she was the only Asian. It was surprising that her dad didn’t know how convenient a library was.

I'm surprised that Slava isn't scared enough that he will tell his tale in front of a live audience.

Gerik: I was really surprised that Linda Sue Park was bullied when she was little because her dad was Korean and was the only Asian in her neighborhood.

I can’t believe that Nya had to walk 8 hours every day to get dirty warm water that can make a person sick! Through hot sand, and thorns barefoot so she can get water she kept up on life and didn’t give up! I can’t believe that she had to do that, even though she was a made up character she represented many children in Sudan. I was super happy when I learned Salva was the one who built the well for her village but he did it anyway for the rival tribe and acted like it wasn’t the rival tribe! After so many losses if it were to choices in life or people he kept walking. It really does surprise me that he didn’t see his family for about 16 years and his dad didn’t recognize him when they saw each other and he found his family but both of his brothers died while he was gone. I think this a great book to inspire children and adults everywhere!

Hi. My name is Charles. One of my take -aways was that Linda Sue Park’s classmates were racist right to her face. Every day. Also, because of that, she came home crying. Every day. That, in my opinion, is not a fair schedule.
