Compare Nya’s life at the lake camp with her life at home (consider the availability of water, shelter, and safety). After comparing Nya's life at these two locations, explain how water dictates Nya’s life every day. What one thing most dictates your life, and why? If you'd like to use and print this organizer to help your students compare/contrast Nya's life at home and at the lake camp, feel free to do so by clicking here. Nya's life at home was different at the camp because she had to walk 16 hours in total a day to get water but at the camp she had access to water. At the lake camp she lived in a make shift shelter whereas at home in a wooden hut. It was safer at home because she was with her own tribe at the Lake camp it was less safe because the Dinka tribe would fight her family. Other ways life was different they did not had to hunt for resources but at the camp they needed to hunt for food and other necessities.

Nya's life was exactly like that. Her life was very different from her regular home and her home at the lake town. Each place has its pros and cons just like you stated. I think that Nya's life was like that.

Nya has no choice and must get the water at either location. She must get the water even if it is contaminated. Nya is forced to drink the dirty water because it is all she has even though it might make her sick. When Nya goes to the lakebed to get water there is hardly any there and what is there is dirty. It is harder for Nya at the lakebed and there is very little water filling her container. LCMS Warminster PA

I completely agree with that. It is much harder to get water at the lake than at the pond. I hope Nya and her family will be able to survive with the little, dirty water.

Nya's life revolves around water because of the amount of time she spends getting water for her family. When she is at the lake house she must dig for water and when she is in her village she must make two long trips to retrieve water.

I definitely agree to this. Just like Nya revolves around certain necessities, we can see how different our lives are when it comes to activities and other things like that. This comment is so well written and really got to the point quick. Good job to whoever wrote it!
